Backyard Beach – Hawai’i

As i sit on the beach in the back of my house alone— the tide is low and the sand is bare

Schools of fish shy away from the dogs and children that play on the horizon.

The Sun smiles at my solitude as I savor a sip of its sunset to myself.

I am Drunk on the sky’s Rum fire.

I usually bask in it’s beams but this time I bask in the beauty of breathing in this body.

I breathe in the salt. Breathe in the sandbar. Breathe in the solo

I thank myself for being here. I exhale expectations Inhale audacity as I plan my next 3 months of traveling Asia alone.

There will be many times where I will feel like I have made a mistake. And in these moments it will be important to thank myself over and over again. The life that I will leave behind for 3 months will be here when I get back.

But on my death bed – I want to tell my grandchildren that their grandmother took a chance on herself to fall in love with all of the corners and colors of the world.

Even if she had to do it all alone.
